There’s nothing so enhances my lazy sleepy days of Christmas as knowing that energetic people are out in the wet and the cold running or swimming or whatever it is that they need to do to work off the seasonal feasting. On Saturday, from a window in county Sligo, I watched surfers getting very wet and cold; and from a window on the other side of the room observed a hunt passing over a soggy landscape, dogs, horses and unspeakables, leaping stone walls in pursuit of the uneatable. I hope it got away.
It’s easy to be best in the 110 year class.
You are a cruel person, fiosrach – my self-esteem is in tatters…
Maith thu, a Jude.
You’re inspiring me to lace up the running shoes again in order to shed the Xmas blubber.

PS. Congratulations on that run. I’ll enjoy my fireside all the more today, just thinking about it.
