“In August 1971, I moved from Derry to Edinburgh. The Festival and its Fringe were in full swing. I now live in a rural area about 40 miles from the city and I am a frequent visitor, especially during this explosive month when the population of the city doubles. Those who know this strikingly beautiful and compact capital will realise how easy it is to get around and for 5 July which is important when there are 300 venues with something like 4000 performances happening and that’s not counting the established centres in the official festival. Alongside it is the Book Festival and a Television gathering which both draw international audiences. The pictures are portraits from street theatre . I was asked for photographic details; they were taken a Canon 5d iii and 24-70mm lens. ”
