PAT + JUDE TALK ABOUT PSNI & UNIONIST ANGER, PAT HUME’S DEATH, AND HOUSE PLANS SOUTH OF THE BORDER

The PSNI have been given fifty recommendations to enhance the quality of the organisation. Among these are the closing of the PSNI station in Crossmaglen, joint PSNI-Gardaí patrols in border areas, and the relocation of plaques honouring RUC men and women who died during the Troubles. The response by unionist politicians has been one of outrage.

The recent death of John Hume’s wife Pat has saddened many people, even those who never knew her. She is credited with being the power that made her husband’s eminence possible.

Finally,  when the south’s Housing minister appeared on RTÉ’s Prime Time last night, he chose to appear solo, as he outlined the government’s hugely ambitious house-building programme. As a result, the main opposition spokesman from Sinn Féin had to deliver his criticism of the government’s plans solo also, rather than debate them with the Minister. Why was that, do you think?
