PAT + JUDE TALK ABOUT VIRTUAL REALITY, THE DEATH OF POETS, THE TOUR DE FRANCE, AND SIR DAVID AMESS

Facebook, we’re told, is planning to create  10,000 new jobs in Europe over the next five years – and no doubt the south of Ireland will get its share. But they’re also working on a Metaverse – a virtual world which will increasingly be the way in which people interact with each other. Is that bad news or good?

Three major Irish figures died in recent days – Paddy Moloney of The Chieftains, and the poets Brendan Kennelly and Máire Mhac an tSaoi, who wrote in Irish. Are poets important people? And if yes, when did you last buy a book of poetry? And does music go places no other art form can go?

Last June, a woman with a sign darted out in front of the Tour de France riders and caused a huge pile-up, with at least one cyclist breaking both arms. Should this kind of thing be punished? And why do people do it anyway?

Finally the killing of Sir David Amess – what should now be done to protect elected representatives? And why are these attacks happening – what motivates the killers?

This and so, so much more at the press of a button. Talk about Metaverse…
