Prof Katie Hayward of Queen’s University has a fairly rigorous article in this morning’s Irish Times. In it, she articulates with eloquence what we all know – that the British, with DUP encouragement, are intent on slashing chunks out of an international agreement they themselves signed.
Today also, Michéal Martin is heading North, where Jeffrey Donaldson says they’ll be happy to hear his views on the protocol, but he has nothing to say about the Assembly or the Executive, since these are UK matters. And they said the Bourbons had forgotten nothing and learnt nothing.
Fine Gael TD Neale Richmond has called on his government to establish an all-party Oireachtas committee to examine the difficulties and opportunities that a united Ireland would present. Now that’ what I call an intelligent, timely call. And him a Blueshirt!
We also have a word or two on a man who climbed on top of a Belfast Glider bus and that delicious moment when ex-President George Bush denounced the brutal and illegal invasion of Iraq – I mean of Ukraine.
