PAT+JUDE TALK ABOUT S RUSHDIE, SHERGAR, THE OMAGH BOMB, LEO VARADKAR AND M COLLINS & NO ALTERNATIVE

Salman Rushdie has been living under a death threat for decades, and last week he was within an ace of losing his life. Should free speech mean you’re entitled to say anything you want about things others hold dear?

In a recent podcast, the Indo remembers Shergar and the horse’s disappearance, and refers to IRA calls coming in ‘from Free Derry corner”. Is that acceptable comment or revealing of a southern attitude to everywhere and everyone in the North?

This is the anniversary of the Omagh bomb – a calamitous event. If I say it was manslaughter rather than murder, does that mean I think it was a good thing? And did the Special Branch have any advance warning that the bomb was on its way?

And Leo Varadkar has hailed Arthur Griffith and Michael Collins, and said that they weren’t like present-day Sinn Féin and never believed there was no alternative to violence.EH?

Finally, when and if Sinn Féin enter government, will they be just another party, full of promises but minimal delivery?

We tackle all these matters with the twin sledge-hammers of our mighty minds…Press the triangle.
