I’m probably in the top ten Hopeless Organisers but I itch with a desire to move things forward regarding Ireland and its reunification. There are a number of respected people doing valuable work right now- David McWilliams being one of them in the Irish Times this morning. But I think there are hundreds, thousands of people who would like to add their voices to the mounting chorus. So now’s your chance.
Before we can think about a reunited Ireland, we need to know what we’re talking about and we need to jolt the present Dublin government into action. So with that in mind, I’ve started in my amateurish way a petition, calling on the Dublin government to set up a Citizens’ Assembly. If Leo or Micheål were to find a petition for a CA on their desk, signed by, say, 1,000 people, or better still 10,000, or better again 100,000, don’t you think that would put real pressure on them to act? When I worked in the BBC, one letter of complaint was enough to send the full-time BBC people into a tizzy. I feel certain that the same applies to the Dublin government – a sizeable petition would be like having their arm grabbed and pushed up their back. So now the question is, will you make Leo and Micheál uncomfortable? Well, will you, blog-reader?
Do the right thing:
Recommend you provide a hyperlink, Jude
Hopefully the planning for a UI is better thought out than your effort to provide a link to a petition, lol
If you just want to format existing text into a hyperlink: Select the text that you want to turn into a hyperlink, and right-click it. On the shortcut menu, click Hyperlink. In the Insert Hyperlink dialog, paste the link in the Address box and click OK.
Use Google if this doesnt work for you.
Good Luck
I’m in Jude. would love to see it in my time. I’m getting
thing on a bit(74) but till hopeful.
I have tried to sign the petition but i
M in Thailand and everything is in Thai script.
As you say- just what is it we are talking about?. Please- no repeat of Brexit nonsense.
I would like to see SF inform the British government, of whatever despicable hue, that once their “rule” in this country is ended, they will be paying compensation for the illegal occupation. A figure of fifty billion Euros would be a good start. Not only would it act as reparations, the money would help with pensions and such.
