PAT+JUDE TALK ABOUT IRISH NEUTRALITY, UNARMED POLICE, THE DUP AND HOW THINGS IRISH THREATEN THEM…

President Michael D Higgins has said that the south of Ireland is drifting dangerously towards NATO. Micheál Martin has said the President shouldn’t intervene in politics. Is he right?  Is it possible to be neutral? Should Ireland do something radically different?

The gardaí in the south are unarmed and proud of it. Has the time come, in contemporary Ireland, for them to have body armour, tiny cameras recording any confrontation, tasers to put manners on dangerous people?

Why are the DUP so negative about things Irish? Maybe it’s a principle with them, maybe it’s bred in the bone, but one thing it isn’t is a hand reached out in reconciliation. While acknowledging that these are our fellow-countrymen and women, every backwoods rant about the dangers of things Irish merely adds to the desire for a united Ireland. Would  you agree?
