With the success of Sinn Fein in Election 2022 and in Election 2023, the Fascists have had their day. Fascism is over for good in Ireland. This is good for everyone on this island -nationalist, republican and unionist and those who label themselves as ‘other’.
The result of the elections needs to be processed and the new reality needs to be implemented. Sinn Fein will soon have the First Minister -something only dreamt of a few years ago.
The implications of the new scenario will continue to be processed at the next election in the 26 counties when it is expected Sinn Fein will take power in the Republic.
That will mean a seismic shift in the balance of political power in the 26 counties and will have many positive consequences for the future of the island of Ireland.
It will spell the end of Partition and the beginning of a new democratic system of government on the island of Ireland, an all-island economy and prosperity and equality for all who live on this island.
That is something that was denied the Irish people by successive British rulers for centuries.
We are now entering a period of seismic political change in Ireland which will have repercussions in Scotland and Wales and internationally.
There have been many sacrifices by many dedicated people over many years to bring us to this point. Their sacrifices will never be forgotten.
So it is onwards and upwards. There will be no losers except the fascists. It will be a victory for democrats and democracy -at last.
