PAT+JUDE TALK ABOUT ISRAEL’S PLANS FOR GAZA, THE ISRAELI AMBASSADOR TO IRELAND, & THE SHANKILL BOMB

It’s a sad and bitter thing to say, but there’s no way to avoid the Middle East. If you switch on your TV it’s in every news report, if you leave your TV off it weighs heavy on your mind. So what will the outcome be, if Israel does what it says it’ll do and sends in ground troops to Gaza? Two things at least: bloodshed and hatred deepened.

And the Israeli ambassador isn’t improving things, by calling President Higgins’s comments ‘inflammatory’. Inflammatory might be better saved for the missile strikes Israel is pouring into Gaza 24/7

Today is the thirtieth anniversary of the Shankill bomb, which was followed by more killlings, including the Greysteel massacre. Many people think and talk of both those events as 100% sectarian. Are they right?

Ivan Yates, former Fine Gael minister and bookie, has predicted that in the next election, Sinn Féin will win 70 seats. Is he right? And do young people think about Ireland and politicians in a different way from their parents?

Over to you…
