The DUP are in a bind. The South is sending hundreds of millions North to support the Casement Park development (in time for Euros 2028, remember), to upgrade the A5 and some other good stuff. The DUP’s bind is, they detest the South’s ‘interference’, but at the same time they dare not refuse the money. But they are working on excuses for abandoning the Casement project. Watch this space.
Jamie Bryson tried to persuade the PSNI that a group of Bloody Sunday relatives, along with Colum Eastwood, had broken the law on ‘marches’ by walking together to the Court House. Oh dear, Jamie. You’ve just done the legal equivalent of Sammy Wilson’s bum-shot…
Finally, the Speaker in the British House of Commons has been caught with his metaphorical trousers down. In his effort to change the SNP’s Gaza motion so it would go easier for Starmer and the Labour Party (Speaker Lindsay Hoyle used to be a Labour MP) , he lost control and ended up claiming he was working to prevent MP colleagues being ‘murdered’. FFS, Lindsay. At this stage it looks like the Commons wants a new Speaker, not excuses.

“I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”
Evelyn Beatrice Hall
Keir Starmer’s sleight of hand in sabotaging the Scottish National Party motion concerning a ceasefire in Gaza, was an attempt to deflect attention from the daily atrocities in Gaza. His efforts instead have raised legitimate questions about the impartiality of Lindsay Hoyle as Speaker in the House of Commons and the deep divisions in the Labour (?) Party.
It is interesting to note the manner in which the slaughter in Gaza today receives minimal attention in the media, while there is moral panic about ‘aggressive protests and aggressive protesters’ referring to the tens of thousands of people in the civilised world who hold legitimate views in condemnation of the daily slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza.
There are ongoing protests in Israel about the genocidal policies being pursued by the Netanyahu administration. There is evidence that protesters are being confronted by aggressive members of the IDF, led by individuals who fail to realise that military might will not result in peace, stability or security in what was the cradle of civilisation.
