As all of us have known for quite some time, Palestinians in Gaza are being killed by the thousand – mainly by Israeli shelling but now by hunger. Children in Gaza are literally starving to death. So when a few truckloads of food were allowed in, there naturally was a stampede to get at that food. And naturally the Israeli military were on hand to start firing their weapons – in the air, they would claim. Which makes it odd that we saw on TV wounded individuals and the hospital authorities said that most of the wounded had been injured by gunfire. Horror upon horror. The Western world woke up very quickly when Ukraine was invaded. When will they wake up and speak the truth about what’s happening in Gaza?
Yesterday in Rochdale, George Galloway swept aside all opponents and for the fourth time became an MP. “This is for Gaza” he told Rishi Sunak. He says he hopes to see repeats of this in lots of constituencies in the general election. Will he? Or will he just damage Labour’s chance of forming a British government?
Finally, Brendan Rodgers, the manager of Glasgow Celtic, has been condemned for saying “Good girl” to a woman journalist. Should he have used the term ‘girl’ when speaking to a female adult? And if the answer is No, how serious was his offence?
