Joe Biden: performance and projection

It’s hard not to feel for Joe Biden. He’s been a successful politician all his life. By all accounts he’s been a considerable triumph  during his first term of office (if you overlook his provision of funding for Israelis so they could have a crack at wiping out the Palestinian people).  Anyway, Joe  gets to his early 80s and what happens?  People from his own party say he should pack it in.

To get where he’s got to, he needed  to. have a mighty ego. Efforts to shove him aside run slap bang into that big ego which sustained him for many years. In effect ,a lot of people in his own party and outside as well are saying “You had It once, Joe. You don’t have it any more.” Many people would be happy to be relieved of the weight of office  at his age. Even more people think it would be plain stupid to elect President a guy who can’t think or talk or  even walk straight. In a contest between someone who can’t think or talk or even walk straight, and  someone who’s a dangerous lunatic, the wobbly walker would get my vote. But I’d be saying “Surely to God there’s a third option!”

But the fact is I don’t have a vote, so it doesn’t matter. George Clooney has a vote, and should be listened to for two reasons. He’s given squillions of dollars  to the Democrat party, and he’s a man whom many think of as their famous buddy, even though they’ve never met him.  And if a guy you know and think fondly of writes a letter to the New York Times and says “It’s time to go, Joe”, an awful lot of people pay attention.

In the end, it’s a sort of illusion but an illusion with real power. Biden’s presidency will be judged by what he did in office, not how well he could conduct a debate. But our leaders need to be able to project leadership, as well as perform acts of leadership. Joe Biden may be able to deliver the performance, but it’s become painfully clear he can’t do the projection thing. We like our leaders to speak and move and look like a leader.  Biden, unfortunately, simply can’t do any  of that any more.

Sorry, Mr President,  but it has to be said : “Hit the road, Joe/And don’t you come back no more, no more”.

At any other time I would think yes, it is time for Joe to retire. But this is no ordinary time unfortunately. His rival in the Republican Party (or what passes for it now after Trump has hollowed it out) is a dangerous fascist. He will destroy America, actually he has done more damage in the last eight years than anyone was able to inflict in the previous two hundred and fifty. His supporters are deluded conspiracy theorists, accompanied by the super rich. Trump will empty Fort Knox and become the wealthiest man on earth, his playbook is based on people like Putin. If America can’t see that then good luck to them. Also good luck to Ukraine and Gaza. “Genocide Joe” is a cheap insult but if Trump gets in he will allow Israel a completely free hand. You ain’t seen nothing yet.

I disagree completely with Biden’s Israeli policies. They are obscene,

However, his opponent is a deranged fascist.

Biden is old, but he is otherwise in his right mind.

Everyday I see him attacked because of his age. That in itself is not an issue..

In fact, making it so is offensive. Trump is also in his late seventies. That is not his problem.

No matter what president /party was in power in the US they would have continued to fund the slaughter of women and babies in the penal colonies of Palestine. At any time they could have threatened to withhold their bloody support and force the Nazionists to the negotiating table. But what did they do? They increased their support for a government that is intent on removing any threat to their fascist enclave. In other words the Palestinians. Well done Uncle Sam.

I guess that what happens when so called freedom fighters rape, murder and kidnap almost 2000 Israeli citizens. Hamas really should have thought of the consequences of their actions more fully, shouldn’t they?

So the deaths of 38000 Palestinians are the revenge for Hamas’ behaviour?

Hilarious to see the meltdown on here amongst the Biden supporters, I guess reality is finally hitting you in the face in regards to his mental competency. As for Trump being a deranged fascist, how many wars were going on when he was in office?

I am not a Biden supporter, I have never seen the point of people like Nigel Farage and other politicians saying they support Donald Trump. Why? As a foreigner he can’t vote for him. Trump’s supporters range from the mega wealthy who he will fleece to the dirt poor who he will fleece. In fact he already has. His support comes from the conspiracy theorists who follow the likes of Alex Jones to the religious fundamentalist (emphasis on the mentalist part) who support Israel because they are mentioned in the Book of The Apocalypse. Nice.
Trump moved the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in 2018 and God alone knows how many people were slaughtered in the ensuing conflict. The IDF shot people for fun like a video game. The worst thing about Trump is his rank hypocrisy, he banned people from Muslim countries whilst accepting money from the Saudis. I learned a long time ago to never put my trust in any politician especially one like Trump.
