PAT+JUDE. TALK ABOUT STARMER IN NEI, CASEMENT, THE FRENCH ELECTION, & UNSTEADY UNIONIST SEATS.

On this Monday morning, the spanking new British Prime Minister (no, NOT that kind of spanking, Virginia) is among us. Should we feel pleased by his attention to us? Will Hillary Benn as Secretary of State see to it that Casement Park is built in time for Euros 2028?

Is there such a thing as a safe unionist seat any more? Alex Kane in his column today appears to think there’s not. What are the implications of that?

And what about the French election, where the centre and the left united to defeat Marine le Pen’s far-right party. Is there a lesson there for us? For unionism?

Finally, what is the future of Sinn Fein in the south likely to be? They’ve sunk in the polls alarmingly. Do they know what they’re doing, or has the tide, once strong in their favour, turned against them? Or maybe they’re just waiting…
