Has the UN finally grown a pair and stood up to Israel’s genocide of not Palestinians but now the indiscriminate attacks on Beirut and Lebanon? In the past days we witnessed UN delegates stand up and walk out of the UN general assembly when Israeli leader, Benjamin Netanyahu took to the podium to speak. What many didn’t notice was the majority of the delegates who left the assembly were black or coloured. The majority who stayed were Western and white. And in that lies a very big problem.
Israel has turned the West into its very own propaganda machine, its own unlimited war chest, while many Eastern countries have to deal with a close proximity to an Israel with Western weapons, an all but unlimited supply of funding while also having to deal with a West which thinks Jewish settlers should have a land state because Israel says so.
83 years ago, Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany carried out the most disgusting and awful genocide known to man. What it decided was that Nazis were an Aryan race and should inherit the earth as a master race and in doing so iradicate those of Jewish descent. The world (I stress ‘the world’) came to their aid and defeated the Nazi race, freeing hundreds of thousands of Jewish people. However, between 160,000 and 180,000 were killed.
While this was a disgraceful and barbaric act, it was almost 90 years ago and still Israel uses it as a means to manipulate the West into doing its bidding. Israel’s blatantly indiscriminate attacks on civilian infrastructure, including homes, schools, and hospitals, have left Gaza’s entire population of more than 2.3 million in despair, struggling to survive amid the ruins of their communities. More than 70,000 Palestinians have been injured since 7th October 2023, meaning that over 100,000 people have now been killed or injured in 140 days of Israel’s offensive. Over 7000 are estimated to lie dead beneath the rubble. That is genocide!
Take away the gas chambers and what is the difference between what happened to German and Polish Jews and the very same descendants of said Jews slaughtering mostly innocent Palestinians in their thousands? Israelis are hypocrites! At least the hardline ones are but let’s not forget that a huge amount of Israelis are incredibly unhappy about how Netanyahu and his government are ‘defending’ them.
The reason Israel attacked Hezbollah by exploding their pagers and mobile phones (YES, it was Israel, let’s not act silly buggers) was because they have all but decimated Gaza and need another war to gain back sympathy from their Western allies because it was waning. The irony of Israel’s position is that if Israel wasn’t there, the Middle East would be at peace. It is an instigator, an aggressor, and a settler state based on a land grab facilitated by the West as a proxy in the Middle East. The issue with that supposed position is that Israel is now the puppet master, telling the likes of America and the UK what they must do to guarantee Israel’s security.
Hypothetically, Israel is attempting to start a Middle East war in a bid to grab as much land as possible, and it may get its wish with the Houthis firing a hypersonic missile from Yemen, over 2,000 miles away hitting Tel-Aviv. The ‘axis of resistance’ isn’t called just that for nothing. When that happens America will have no option other than to stand with Israel due to that support being built into US law.
Netanyahu’s issue is he has an incredibly fractured government. Rumour has it that a ceasefire between Israeli and Hamas was on the cards earlier last week only for the hard right on Netanyahu’s government to catch wind of it and bring the deal crumbling down. He is literally at the mercy of the hard right in his government and is fighting for his political life against his own government and people.
While the obvious solution to the divisions between the Palestinians and Israelis is Palestinian statehood, something Netanyahu has dangled in-front of the world numerous times, just before Netanyahu’s trip, on the 18th of July, the Knesset passed a resolution overwhelmingly rejecting Palestinian statehood. Benny Gantz’s National Unity party, sometimes spoken of as a possible alternative to Netanyahu’s government, also supported the motion. While left-leaning parties including Yair Lapid largely abstained, the vote showcases the limited domestic appetite in Israel to support a two-state solution let alone address Israel’s leadership and domestic and regional security crisis. This lacuna is one that Netanyahu continues to fill.
Netanyahu’s speech finished with – “If you remember one thing, one thing from this speech, remember this: Our enemies are your enemies. Our fight is your fight. And our victory will be your victory. When we stand together, something very simple happens. We win. They lose.”
It’s clear Netanyahu tried to build clear synergies through the shared threat of Iran that he also directly blamed for anti-Israel protests. This is a tried and tested strategy that will be hard for US lawmakers to brush off. The Iran threat, be it nuclear, regional, or local, is a persistent one that Israel wants America’s support on. However, the American people grow tired of Israel dragging them into their disputes and with the US pouring more dollars into Israel than acting on flooding, one has to ask how long the American tax-payer will put up with Israel using their tax dollars to carry out genocide.
I thought there was 6 million Jews killed. Boy was I wrong
There were about 6,000,000 Jews murdered by the NAZIS and their collaborators between January 1942
and 1945
Some 26 Million Soviet Citizens were killed in the war, many of them murdered rather than in combat.
Soviet Forces inflicted most of the casualties inflicted on the NAZIs during the war and liberated most
of the Europeans who had endured Nazi rule.
That does imply cowardice on the part of those serving in the Allied Armies (including those from
countries which had suffered under Western Imperialism and were to have that suffering re-imposed
after the defeat of Japan). The British Welfare State was largely funded by the Robbery of Malayan
Rubber during Attlee’s “Emergency”. General Kitson earned his spurs there. The British used
Agent Orange there and tutored the Americans for their war on the Vietnamese people.
When John A Costello put the Label “Republic” on the Republic the Irish electorate had established by plebiscite in 1937, Attlee, who was co-founding NATO determined that “for strategic reasons,
some part of Ireland must remain within His Majesty’s Dominions.”
I leave it to you to judge what the position is today.
Hamas should have stayed at home on October 7th. If they had thousands of their own people would still be alive. Israel like any other powerful military is not going to stop until it had inflicted the maximum damage on it’s enemies. People can call for ceasefires but Israel will pay no heed. Netanyahu faces possible jail time for corruption and I think the way Hamas were able to slaughter hundreds of people before the IDF arrived is highly suspicious. It reeks of Pearl Harbour or 9-11. Like in all wars the innocent will suffer but people have picked their side, Israel or Hamas and they will stand by them.
you have just Ignored 70+ yrs of history, many thousands murdered by Israel does not count, it would seem. Totally out of context.
It’s hilarious that privileged Westerners like yourself are in such distress about what’s happening to these terrorists, while at the same time Muslims in Syria, Lebanon and Iran were dancing in celebration.
Why all the sympathy for such a homophobic, misogynistic regime anyway? Nothing sums up the moral disarray at the heart of the Western left better when you realise that they would sooner take the side of Hezbollah and Hamas just to spite Israel .
