Troglodyte meets troglodyte in White House bonding

Are you now or were you ever a Conor McGregor fan?  In my own case the answer to both questions is a firm No. But if you love that ape-like figure, you’re probably pleased to see pictures of him in the White House, cuddling President Trump.

All this comes out of Trump being asked who his favourite Irish person was. He might have said James Joyce. He might have said the members of Kneecap.  But he chose to say Conor McGregor. Of all the Irish people in all of the world, he had to choose McGregor.

McGregor chooses to identify himself  with the basest tier of Irish society – those who want to kick out all furriners.  If as is rumoured (brace yourself)  McGregor is considering having a run at becoming President of Ireland in November. If  he were tobe elected, we’ll know what nearly half of the American people know about their fellow citizens who cast their vote for Trump: the will of the people can hit a deeply stupid level.

Final point: are the Irish people (in the South, that is – we in the north don’t get a say and there are no signs that it’ll change )  – are the Southern Irish ready to give McGregor, should he run, the. political kicking of a lifetime? I do hope so. If the editors of Punch magazine had wanted a model for their caricatures of the Irish people as simian, threatening figures, they could have modelled their sketches on that  creature who put his arm around that other creature in the Oval Office yesterday.

A privileged ex-academic attacking a working class man from Dublin. It’s hilarious how the elites are losing their collective minds about Conor McGregor meeting the President of the USA.

Dr Jude Collins is a working class man.
Dr Collins is not ‘elite’ by any stretch of the imagination

McGregor is an ex-working class man from Dublin, whose wealth, ‘privilege’, lifestyle and influence places him in the ‘elite’ category you mention.

It is clear that you have got things the wrong way round.
Maybe sending responses at nearly 1:00am is not a good idea.

Your second sentence makes no sense to anyone with any sense.
Fact: Trump is a convicted felon with a long history of sexual allegations brought against him. Fact: McGregor lost a civil rape case brought against him.
There is nothing ‘hilarious’ about anything in this meeting.

Jude is calling this one right.
His argument could be sharper if he lost the personal slurs, but he is right to be concerned.
