Kipling was one of many writers of skill on the public payroll who inculcated hatred in people who were normally of goodwill. German Sheepdogs were renamed Alsatians and the Royal Family changed its names. The Prince of Wales, an air-headed young man, was glad to shed what he called his “Hunnish” surname to “Windsor.” If one has to be taught to hate one’s own family name it is a sad, bad situation.
According to THE DAILY TELEGRAPH (of all sources!!) Edith Cavell became a National Heroine whose death inspired tens of thousands to sign up for the war effort. (After British Propaganda lied about her execution for the spy that she was.)
I believe millions of people, innocent people, have died as a result of lying propaganda designed to teach them to hate and fear.
