CONTENDERS ( AND BUMS) FOR TORY LEADERSHIP by Donal Kennedy

An interesting, indeed intriguing, contender, TOM TUGENDHAT, first swam into my ken nearly nine years ago and featured in  my BLOG –

“WILL NO ONE RID ME OF THIS TURBULENT PRIEST”  on 28th of JANUARY   2016.

The hero of the piece was Lieutenant Colonel the Reverend Nicholas Mercer, named by Liberty as Human Rights Lawyer of the Year 2011-2022  “for courage and integrity in the face of dissembling and denial of human rights abuses by British forces in IRAQ.”

When I wrote my BLOG in 2016 I said that the British Government had categorized
lawyers who upheld the law as “ambulance- chasing” shysters and that, interviewed
on TV, the Reverend Nicholas Mercer “had politely but firmly wiped the floor with Tory MP Tom Tugendhat, who was peddling The Government’s contemptible line.”

At the time I had no idea of Tom’s epic record in various arms, including, I’d guess,
THE SPECIAL BOAST SQUADRON.

He launched his bid with a highly photogenic picture of himself, wearing shades, behind an even bigger and more handsome machine gun.

Plus the claim that he had fought an eight-hour gun-battle in Afghanistan (or was it Iraq?)  for it seems he has starred in bot theatres of war.

Tugendhat’s modesty is like that of the late Sicilian gangster , Salvatore Giuiliano, pistol-posing,  whose most noteworthy feat was murdering unarmed families celebrating May Day with Socialists.

The Tory Contender might well be  dismissed as a Tommy  Two-Gun-Twat..
