We had 240 plus victims of the conflict at our conference on Saturday – main speakers, John Lawlor (father of Gerard killed by loyalists) Alan McBride (widower of Sharon killed by IRA) Roisín Uí Donail (sister of Kevin-Barry O’Donail killed by SAS) & Shirley McMichael (widow of John McMichael killed by the IRA).

Political party representatives responding and speaking were – SF M O’Neill, SDLP Colum Eastwood, Alliance Party Stephen Farry – Mike Nesbitt pulled out Friday – DUP did not to respond to various requests to attend and participate.
This was a very important conference – also attended by – Victims Commissioner Judith Thompson, VSS CEO Margaret Bateson, PSNI Belfast Commander Norman Haslett, PSNI Chief Constable representative Tim Mairs, PSNI Legacy Investigations Branch Jason Murphy, Irish government Joint Secretariat Ruairi de Burca, NIO David Johnston, Police Ombudsman head of Historic Directorate Paul Holmes, Dept. of Justice representatives, among others ….
The format was a closed session from 10 am until 11.45 with families only giving their views etc. of what is required in terms of moving forward. Then from 12pm all the external agencies attended and listened to the panel of four relatives speaking for 8 minutes each and then the political leaders responded to what they heard and set out what they will do re legacy – they too had 8 mins each.
