THE GUARDIAN (30 December 2019) headlines a piece by their Legal Affairs Correspondent, Owen Bowcott -“Some IRA ‘informers’ wrongly targeted by killers, files show.”
I wouldn’t dare to label Mr Bowcott, THE GUARDIAN, the former Northern Ireland Government, or any British Government as “Informers.” for, with the exception of Mr Bowcott, I know that they have habitually published lies to serve their agendas. Mr Bowcott may be a young and naïve person but in passing on unchecked and unverifiable claims he may qualify as a “Misinformer.”
But he shouldn’t lose any sleep over the matter. There is no tradition in Irish Republicanism of shooting nformers..But for centuries Britain has rewarded the grossest of Misinformers with money and land, Orders of Chivalry, seats in Parliament and on Boards, Benches, University Chairs. From Long before Titus Oates, and since Humphrey Atkins.the most knavish of tricksters.
Speaking of Boards, the “Honours System” does have the most unladylike Broads who have been deemed Ladies.
The Files do not specify which alleged informers were wrongly identified by their killers, and putting them on parade now is calculated confound the politics of republicans
