“IPSO” the IINDEPENDENT PRESS STANDARDS ORGANISATION was founded after the Levenson Inquiry into the British press.
So far it appears independent and not the compliant servant of British press Lords and editors that the old Press Complaints Commission and Press Council proved to be when I had dealings with them.
IPSO adjudicated on a series of articles in the Jewish Chronicle as part of that paper’s campaign to have Jeremy Corbyn forced from the leadership of the Labour Party. IPSO damned the series in a 1,300 word adjudication which the Jewish Chronicle was forced to publish. An adjudication apparently ignored by most British media.
The Jewish Chronicle was founded in 1841. The few times I’ve looked at it it seemed a reasonable paper and I assumed it had a clean record. But the campaign to depict Jeremy Corbyn as an anti-Semite or bigot of any kind was despicable. He belonged to a tradition which could not be whipped into support for unjust acts of aggression. He has not the ability or agility to lead a political party in local or national government . But the character assassination he was subjected to was despicable.
The editor of the Jewish Chronicle was Stephen Pollard, a member of the Henry Jackson Society, a Neo-Conservative outfit founded by Douglas Murray, a protege of the egregious Michael Gove. That might be funny but it includes the most gung-ho warmongers this side of Hades, battle-hardened Generals, Admirals, Spooks who have organised coups and assassinations across half the globe, not just bottle-hardened fantasists,
and veteran cocaine-sniffers like Gove. (Come to think of it, cocaine is reportedly smuggled rectally by couriers. Does it really change the nature of its environment when consumed by the likes of Mr Gove?)

Coinciding with Stephen Pollard’s blackguarding Jeremy Cobyn, the BBC screened a Panorama Programme which I saw at the time and judged as grossly dishonest. It was presented by John Ware, described by Stephen Pollard in virtual adoration.
Ware won a libel action for a Labour report on the programme.
Good ol’ British justice -from Amritsar to Birmingham to Guildford – the best that money can buy!
