Having floated. ( no pun intended) the idea of a bridge between NEI and Scotland, Boris Johnson has now come up with the wheeze of a tunnel between the two places. It’s being pushed for by the High Speed Rail Group (HSRG), the people who are supposed to be developing high-speed rail links in Northern England.
Hugo McNeill, the chairperson of the British-Irish Association, has an article in today’s Irish Times, in which he points up the folly of thinking about a border poll and the need to develop, along the lines of Micheál Martin’s Shared Island project, closer links and better relations between people in the north. Only when that has been achieved would the people of the south dream of having anything to do with us.
