Today , Pat and I look back on the big topics of 2021. The most blindingly obvious is Covid – it has changed how we act socially, how we do our work, how we play. Is there anything to be said for it as a positive force in our lives?
Almost exactly a year ago, Trump’s followers invaded Congress and tried to overthrow the American system of politics. Or did they? If they did, how come so few were carrying weapons?
And how should we react to those unionists who insist that the protocol is bad, that an all-Ireland poll would need to get the assent of a majority of unionists? Should we try to see their point of view or simply say “50% + 1 – suck it up!”?
