“THE RUSSIAN PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS BEING DONE IN THEIR NAME IN THIS WAR” – BBC COMMENTATOR IN KIEV

No wars are waged in the name of the British people. They are waged in the name of the Queen. Some of them are waged secretly, unknown and unsanctioned by Parliament, and only cometo light many decades later many decades later when their cut-throat “heroes” merit glowingobituaries in THE TIMES.

This is the PLATINUM  ANNIVERSARY of the accession of the current Elizabeth to the British throne. There was no “British” throne in the days of Elizabeth Tudor, who was never Queen of Scotland.

During the first eight years of her reign nearly 1,100 unfortunate Africans were killed by her officially appointed hangmen, and many thousands abused, tortured and murdered by her troops,

One officer in particular relished hunting on horseback fleeing and unarmed people as if they were foxes and despatching them accordingly. That Officer became the architect of the Queen’s recent War on Ireland and was awarded a gong, by her within three weeks of Bloody Sunday. That Sunday’s doing, not the award of a gong, was described by the BBC’s Mark Urban, as a Public Relations blunder.

I could list many similar incidents in many countries performed by agents of the Crown these past 70 years.

Forty years ago, after nearly ten months of labour, I dragged out of Britain’s Press Council a condemnation of the TIMES for a deliberate and blatant lie. The BBC chose not to mention the ruling, as Mrs Thatcher and Unionist MPs had already uttered the same falsehood. Radio 4, however, led with a story about the  Press Council, for a tabloid newspaper had printed a photo of a pretty young married woman which was neither indecent, unflattering nor scandalous.

She was wearing a bikini and was in an early stage of pregnancy. The Press Council, under pressure from Buckingham Palace, condemned the newspaper within about 48 hours. Buckingham Palace later treated the young woman, Princess Diana, rather more shabbily than the Press did,

When I turned on the TV on the evening after my disappointment that that there had been no radio report on the vindication of my complaint against THE TIMES, I saw its Editor being hailed as EDITOR OF THE  YEAR by fellow-editors of British National Newspapers. The scoundrel HAROLD EVANS was later knighted by Her Gracious Majesty.

Within about four months of the Press Council adjudication the lie for which t was censured was repeated verbatim  in the DAILY STAR, THE DAILY EXPRESS, and THE DAILY MAIL in a co-ordinated smear campaign against Ken Livingstone. An elderly gentleman, living in Birmingham, contacted me and complained to the PRESS COUNCIL about the  DAILY STAR and the DAILY EXPRESS. His complaint was upheld, after an unnecessary 9 month delay.  I was less successful with my complaint about the DAILY MAIL which published the WHOPPER  under the name of SIR HUMPHREY ATKINS, Her Majesty’s former Secretary of State for Northern Ireland.  The paper buried in its inside pages a very slight and unnoticeable modification of its report and did not mention Atkins at  all.

Even In Britain the public was well aware that the PRESS COUNCIL was a toothless tool of the press barons.

So the tool was renamed as a PR exercise, as was  that other tool, Sir Humphrey Atkins,

THE PRESS COUNCIL was now called THE PRESS COMPLAINTS COMMISSION. ATKINS was now Called  BARON COLNBROOK and appointed a Member of the COMMISSION

The lie for which THE TIMES was censured by the Press Council was about the IRA.

The PRESS COMPLAINTS COMMISSION introduced a new rule so that only the IRA or a member of that  body of well-meaning men and women would be allowed make a complaint such as I made.

Ordinary non-belligerent punters, paying for  newspapers in the hope of being honestly informed, have  no hope of redress when sold pups and showered with their evil- smelling discharges,

I don’t think the most obsequious courtier has ever claimed that Queen Elizabeth is an intellectual.

But I find it difficult to believe that she is unaware of the various crimes against humanity performed in her name by agents she has awarded with honours during the past 70 years.
