I SEE THAT THE COMBINED LIBRARY OF THE LATE CONOR CRUISE O’BRIEN AND HIS WIFE MAIRE MAC SAN TSAOI WILL SOON BE ON THE MARKET.
They were each of them outstanding scholars and writers. For many years I worshipped everything that I heard or saw written by Conor and I still treasure some of his output.

I realise some readers might quibble with that and assert that the incident was in “LONDONDERRY.”
But LORD SAVILE later conceded that none of the beneficiaries of British marksmanship that day were rioters.
It is difficult to accept that O’Brien, a gifted journalist (and later Editor -in-Chief of London’s OBSERVER) believed that those beneficiaries were rioters.
Many years later David Cameron, as British Prime Minister, spoke in the House of Commons and declared them innocent of rioting.
