Dear Editor:
Dominic Green’s commentary on Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee (Reign of Dignity June 1,2022) was a bit cheeky. He marks the Queen’s jubilee with words he imagines the Queen would speak. She is merely a prop in a very profitable business affectionally referred to by British Subjects as The Firm. So when Mr. Green puts words in the Queen’s mouth about “…the decay of public morals in the U. S. and the weakening influence of Christianity…it is what Americans would refer to as a “cheap shot.”
So let me be more direct in honor of the occasion. Her Majesty’s government spent 30 years forging a lawless legacy in Northern Ireland with Army and police colluding with loyalist murderers in the killing of British Subjects, most of whom were innocent Irish citizens as well. The Queen never had a sleepless night over the slaughter having awarded many for that work. To paraphrase the bard’s Lady Macbeth, the murdering of innocent people will be the damned spot that will forever stain her” Reign of Dignity.”
Sincerely,
Michael J. Cummings, Secretary
