Apparently as Queen Elizabeth’s coffin was being transferred in Edinburgh, amid the many cheering and clapping, there was a number who in fact BOOED. And apparently there was a car cavalcade in the Bogside celebrating the death of Queen Elizabeth. Is that the worst of bad taste? Or have people a right to differ, regardless of general public opinion?
Why is there no talk of holding peace talks over the war in Ukraine? Surely some discussion that might lead to an end to this terrible war would be desirable – yet no one so much as mentions peace? Why so?
The playwright David Hare has written an article criticising Boris Johnson and other politicians who have debased the English language to the point where truth is despised or ignored. Is he right? Or are actions not what count, rather than words?
