PAT+JUDE TALK ABOUT THE NEW BRIT PM, O’CONNELL STREET, MICHEÅL MARTIN AND A HAPPY BIRTHDAY…

And so we say farewell to B Johnson,  as he fades into the background again. The man of the moment is Rishi Sunak, who, we are told, will calm the markets. Will that be enough? Are there Tories who simply hate him?

And what of Micheál Martin? I say he’s moving out of the Taoiseach chair this Friday, Pat says he has another month, so one of the two of us doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Either way, Micheál has lately been putting much emphasis on the north and the need for reconciliation as well as a working Executive. Is it patriotism or an effort to blindside Jim O’Callaghan?

O’Connell Street is a shocking mess. Shouldn’t the Dublin government make sure it is filled with decent, even prestigious shops, with flourishing commerce – because its present state is what has made it a urine-soaked sewer.

And finally, we pay a tribute to a lovely woman who, sad to say, made a bad marriage choice….
