I don’t think I’m a crank. Not even by the definition of Francis Sheehy Skeffington – “a machine that causes revolutions.”
I’m deeply conservative when it comes to language, perhaps even a pedant.
“I am always sorry when any language is lost, because languages are the pedigrees of nations” – Samuel Johnson.
As Keir Starmer has resolved to pull anti-semitism up by the roots from the New Labour Party I consulted the Concise Oxford Dictionary to examine the roots/ pedigree of semitism
I opened the Concise Oxford Dictionary which I quote below –
“Semite, noun and adjective. (Member) of any of the races supposed to be descended from Shem (Genesis x 21 foll.) including especially the Hebrews, Arameans, Phoenicians, Arabs and Assyrians.
So Semitic adjective (also noun) =Semitic languages.”
So it seems that if one is hostile to any or all of the peoples considered descendants of Shem one is an anti-semite. I understand that more people today speak Arabic than Hebrew and being anti-Arab or anti-Syrian is being anti- semitic, as is being anti-Jewish.
Such linguistic, political or religious bigotry is unworthy of any human being and I would no more expect it ofJeremy Corbyn than I would suspect Keir Starmer of being a socialist or indeed a democrat. THE TIMES, a thundering liar for centuries (the forged Parnell letters for instance) has this week called on the Labour Party to expel Corbyn.
I have only once spoken to Corbyn, after the funeral Mass for George Meehan, former leader of Haringey Council. I told him he had a snowball’s chance in Hell of being Prime Minister while the British media ruled the roost. Besides, I never thought he had the makings of a political leader.
Starmer has ability and already is a Knight of the Bath. Mussolini, bankrolled by the British Secret Service since 1917, had to murder people before George V, in 1923 conferred the same honour on him.
