THAT 2021census – why were we not given all the figures about a year ago? Anyway, we’ve recently had some interesting numbers: 42.3% of people in NEI are from a Catholic background, 30.5% from a Protestant background. That doesn’t mean the percentages translate into nationalist/unionist in all cases – but it’s always been a handy indicator. Is a sense of panic at such numbers the reason that Arlene and Sammy and Nigel lashed out at Joe Biden – fear translated into vitriol?
Brexit – we all know that NEI voted 56% to stay in the EU, yet were hauled out of it by Britain. But it was after all – as Arlene and others point out – a UK-wide vote. Which is a pity, because almost all of the economic disasters with which the UK is now struggling have their roots in Brexit. Isn’t awful when you know you’ve been hoist by your own petard?
AND that cop show Blue Lines, set in Belfast – is it any good?And/or is it a spot of handy propaganda for the PSNI?
