An American Democrat, Lyndon Johnson, never demanded that all his fellow-citizens grovel in his adoration. His test of loyalty for his partisan Texas supporters was that they kiss his posterior in the window of the Neiman Marcus Department Store in Dallas and swear that it smelt of roses.
The (Protestant) Archbishop of Canterbury and the (Roman) Catholic Archbishop of Westminster are at one in demanding that next Friday all Britons and citizens/subjects, of the Commonwealth get down on their knees and swear allegiance to King Charles, and his successors in an oath that will brand them as serfs.
If the King and the next in line to his Throne were men with records of fidelity to solemn commitments, such an oath would be servile and contemptible. But they don’t have such records.
And it seems to me that the guidance given by Cardinal Nichols, and the behaviour demanded by Archbishop Welby are more worthy of Baboons than of Christian Primates.

That’s a strange one, Charles wanting the British to swear allegiance to him. You have to marvel at the sheer levels of narcissism involved. He obviously has no sense of irony.
