FLANAGANS’ BALLS – EIGHTY YEARS APART! – by Donal Kennedy

In 1943  Deputy Oliver Flanagan in Dail Eireann praised Hitler for how he was dealing with the Jews.

At the time Ireland had a rational, ethical government, and I don’t think even one of the blue-shirted
fascists on the Opposition benches gave Flanagan any support.

Eighty years later Deputy Charlie Flanagan has called for the expulsion of the Russian ambassador.
The ambassador has claimed that Ireland is backing a Nazi Ideology by supporting Ukraine.

It seems to me that many TDs make rational calculations dictated by their ambitions. But like
Mae West’s fur coat, goodness/ethics have Eff All to do with them.

So far as I can make out the ambassador has made a reasonable defence of his Government’s
policies which have not been dented by those who have called for his removal.
