The SDLP are boycotting the Nolan Show, so too – it appears – are Sinn Féin and the DUP. Can the BIGGEST SHOW IN THE COUNTRY survive as a political show if major swathes of nationalism and unionism refuse to appear? And is their absence reasonable or spiteful?
Why is it that the world is (almost literally) up in arms about the Russian use of drones which are killing Ukrainian civilians, but less appalled when Israel kills innocent Palestinians? Are there certain circumstances where the slaughter of civilians gets the thumbs-up and other circumstances where we proclaim ourselves appalled?
There is an article in today’s IRISH TIMES which calls for a major look at O’Connell Street, which at present is a disgrace for the main street of Ireland’s capital. Maybe we allow this kind of thing to happen because we’ve never been taught anything about the importance of architecture in our lives, and how it affects us all.
Finally, what do we make of two men – one approaching sixty, the other seventy – who were yesterday ordained as Catholic priests. Are they heroic? Misguided? Or what?
