PAT+JUDE TALK ABOUT TUBRIDY&NOLAN, THE ROSE OF TRALEE, MICHAEL PARKINSON, BIDENOMICS AND THE NEED TO LOOK GOOD…

Broadcasting in Belfast and Dublin is experiencing some turbulence these days. Just when Ryan Tubridy thought it was save to settle behind a microphone again, his boss, the new Director-General of RTÉ, showed him the door. Ouch. In Belfast, on the other hand, tales of Stephen Nolan sending pics of naked and excited men to colleagues, making very rude comment on colleagues and lots of other stuff – none of that has appeared to disturb the fifth-highest-paid employee of the BBC.

The Rose of Tralee is about to bloom on our screens again – it’s almost as traditional as getting ready to go back to school at this time of year. Is it  bum-clenchingly embarrassing or a uniquely Irish show?  Is it wrong to include physical appearance in selecting a Rose?

Michael Parkinson has gone to a better world. What was it that made the son of a Barnsley miner such a master of TV interviewing?

And given that the US economy is in really good shape, how come Joe Biden is so low in the polls? Does that mean he’s doomed to defeat next year? Can Trump lightning strike twice? Eeeeeeekkkkk…
