Friends—The British think they have had the last word on Northern Ireland: mocking the Good Friday obligations; the criminal cover-up of their legacy of murder; and the dismissal of any Irish unity referendum for “a long, long time.” The American Brexit Committee thinks otherwise. If America is to display any spine, sense of justice and respect for the rule of law, it must deny any new US-UK trade deal and suspend trade discussions until the Irish unity referendum is conducted.
For many of you on the Committee, the name of John Dearie has been is associated for decades with leadership in every phase of Irish-American protest over British betrayal and deceit in Northern Ireland. Many may not realize that he was pivotal in supporting the creation of the ABC now numbering 300 members from every walk of life in America.
John will be recognized for his vision and faithfulness in standing up for the struggle for justice and truth in NI instead of embracing popular ‘critically correct’ positions. As the attached ad attests, John Dearie remembered that haunting appeal on the wall of Garden of Remembrance in Dublin. “Generations of Freedom, remember us , the Generations of the Vision.”
Please support the Nov 19th reception in the Bronx and gear up for what might be an interesting 2024 struggle against Britain’s American lobbyists and their infiltration and insinuation into the U. S. Department of State and every facet of our military and intelligence institutions.

JOHN DEARIE,
A MAN WITH A VISION
We wish to applaud the recognition given to your honorees and in particular the achievements of former State legislator, attorney John Dearie. When the final chapter of Ireland’s freedom struggle is written and Ireland is re-united, his words and deeds will be long remembered. Today there are many more voices in America expressing concern about British injustice and deceit and that is due in no small measure to John’s voice. But in 1973 to speak about Britain’s lawlessness in Northern Ireland, anti-Catholic discrimination and violence could end a political career or earn a terrorist label from the media. But the people of the Bronx responded well to men like Sean Patrick Walsh and John Dearie who witnessed the cruelty of the British and spoke truth to power.
Americans were frustrated with inaction by both the Irish and U. S. government and John showed not only courage in challenging British oppression but skill in using new methods to expose England for the tyrant it had always been. He energized the NYS Irish-American Legislators Society which began adopting resolutions on internment, Diplock court injustices, plastic bullet killings of youth in the North, implementing Executive MacBride Fair Employment Principles legislation, urging the appointment of a Special Envoy to Northern Ireland and, most importantly, demanding that Presidential candidates address Northern Ireland issues at a public forum. John secured Governor Clinton’s appearance at the Presidential Forum after a tense conversation with Harold Ickes, who recognized John’s sincerity and passion. It is no exaggeration to state that the Good Friday Agreement (GFA) years later was a direct result of his determination.
True to form, the British Conservative government obstructed its GFA’s obligations whenever and wherever it could and delivered a two-finger salute to America by unilaterally adopting immunity for its security services (Army, MI-5, police) involved in as many as 1000 killings of Irish/British citizens. Britain PM Sunak dismisses talk of the ‘unity’ referendum, a key obligation of the GFA. In 2016, John recognized the Brexit vote as yet another way for Britain to manipulate the economy of the Republic and ignore the Article II obligations of the EU regarding basic investigation of killings. Thus, was launched the American Brexit Committee in his office and the demand today that there be no adoption of a new US-UK trade deal until Ireland’s unity referendum is conducted and the criminal cover-up legacy’ law is repealed. On Ireland’s Garden of Remembrance wall is inscribed this mournful plea: “O Generations of Freedom; Remember us, the Generations of the Vision!” John Dearie remembered!

Thank you John Dearie for your courage and commitment to the cause of justice and equality in Ireland. Your recognition by the ABC is greatly deserved and much appreciated.
