It’d be safe to say that the majority of people in Britain and Ireland favour a ceasefire in Gaza. Yet our politicians refuse to vote for such a motion: the best they can bring themselves to call for is a temporary halt. Are these politicians brainless as well as heartless
‘Up Front With Katie Hannon’ is a relatively recent programme on RTÉ, but this week’s episode was very good. It discussed the question of violence against women by men. Several victims of male violence spoke from the audience with great dignity. The general view among the panel was that men should, from their earliest years, be taught to respect women. That might mean that women would be able to walk down a dimly-lit street without taking their life in their hands.
Finally, Petr Cech, the former Chelsea goal-keeper has joined the Belfast Giants ice-hockey team. EH? You must be joking.
