I read in today’s paper how:-
Britain’s Veterans’ Affairs Minister Johnny Mercer, who himself served with
the British Special Services on three tours in Afghanistan and had the rank of
Captain “gave evidence to the SAS enquiry* but refused to give the names of
the soldiers who told about the regiment’s killings and use of drop weapons.
He is challenging the enquiry judge and could face a possible sentence.”
*Properly speaking a Judicial Inquiry into deliberate killings of unarmed non-combatant prisoners by the SAS, one of whose members claimed, on tape submitted to the Inquiry, that his own unit had committed over 300 such crimes.

The hero of my Blog – Lt.Col the Rev. Nicholas Mercer was, before he took
the Cloth. Chief Legal Advisor to the British Forces in Iraq.
When I wrote my Blog 8 years ago he was striving to have service personnel,
including Generals, held responsible for crimes against humanity, and to have
Queen’s Regulations upheld.
He had, with Christian Grace, deployed the technique attributed by Bernard Shaw to Leon Trotsky in argument –“cutting off the opponent’s head and holding it up to show there were no brains in it.”
His victim at the time was a Tory MP and ex-Territorial Army Lieutenant Colonel who had served in Afghanistan and Iraq and boasted of all-night gun-battles and was to campaign for the Premiership with impossibly photogenic battle poses. His name is Tom Tugendhat. But the pose was Two-Gun-Twat. He is a Security Minister in His
Britannic Majesty’s Goernment.
Nicholas Mercer is Rector of Bolton Abbey. I just read in THE GUARDIAN that he is still fighting the good he was fighting 8 years ago.
It is not inconceivable that both Johnny Mercer and Tommy Two-Gun-Twat will be sharing Porridge for conspiracy to pervert the course of justice regarding murders in Afghanistan.
