The guardians of southern morality

Do the people of the South of Ireland realise how lucky they are? In some other countries, the parliamentarians don’t give a tinker’s spit about anything, including the difference between right and wrong. In the South of Ireland, we have parliamentarians whose sharp eye on other people’s affairs makes the Skibereen Eagle look like a degenerate duck.

Here’s the Taoiseach, the words tumbling over each other’ s heels.

“It’s for Deputy McDonald to decide what she wishes to do next in terms of further information that she wishes to provide. It’s clear the the Oireachtas and the people of Ireland were duped, that much is clear.”

Even the Social Democrats leader, little Holly Cairns, feels Sinn Féin let her down. “Whatever about not publicly naming him [ Niall Ó Donnghaile] in relation to allegations because of concerns around his mental health, her [Mary Lou’s] statement was utterly glowing,” she said, adding that he was in fact “resigning in disgrace”.

That stern guardian of public morals, Ivana Bacik, Labour party leader, is quite upset:“Whatever about not publicly naming him in relation to allegations because of concerns around his mental health, her [Mary Lou]’s  statement was utterly glowing,” she said, adding that he was in fact “resigning in disgrace”.

I hope that quenches any cynical thought in your heart that politicians in the south are interested only in one thing: the next election.  How can we be sure? Because none of the politicians quoted even mention the next election. Sure what would they care about elections and votes? It’s frankness and openness and doing the right thing that gets these people out of bed in the morning. And of course on many morning wondering how they can best repulse the threat of those grubby, ghastly Shinners. Why couldn’t they just stay up north and leave our beautifully-controlled little state continue in its whiter-than-white way? Galway tent? GUBU? Bertie’s bank account?  Don’t  know what you’re talking about.

Convicted peadophile Bill Kenneally serving 14 years.
Offered co-option to council and mayor of Waterford by FF while already known by his brother, Minister Brendan Kenneally, and the gardai to be raping boys.

Nathan McDonnell, a Kerry business man, last week pleaded guilty to importing an estimated €38m worth of crystal meths. He is a member of FG and almost certainly a heavy donator to the party. He was recently pictured with ministers Covney and Deenihan as well as ex- Taoiseach Enda Kenny.
Do FG have ‘questions to answer’ whether the party is living off drug money.

Mary Lou put it succinctly: “their hypocrisy is matched only by their cynicism.”

wouldn’t it be ironic if this wolfpack attack on the shinners on the eve of the election, actually helped to rally those who see it for what it is, to the party with their votes?
