This morning (or last night, maybe because that was a better time to break bad news), Jim Gavin tossed in the towel and put away his bid to become President of Ireland. It seems he forgot about some £3K he owed a former tenant. Which means he was a landlord back in the day.Oh dear. Slan Jim – it’s been good to know yah. 

So how will Catherine Connolly shape up against Heather Humphries?I have a strong feeling, barring unforeseen disasters, that Connolly will leave the loud-talking Monaghan woman in her dust.   It appears that whoever wins will preside over a state which in addition to being a brutal place to buy a house, is a place where the cost of living is going up and up and up. 

Finally, it seems an awful lot of people in the south who’ve lost their driving licence – i.e., they were forbidden to drive by a court – are continuing to rev along the highways and byways,behind the wheel and against the law.
