Is this latest shooting – execution? – in Minneapolis by ICE agents the last straw? Former vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz and former presidents Obama and Clinton have all denounced the obvious shooting dead of a protestor. Will it make any difference?
And has the blocking of Andy Burnham – obviously by Keir Starmer and his buddies – from running in a Labour by-election – is that a mortal self-inflicted wound? Would Burnham as Labour leader have reinvigorated the party?
Labour’s big opponent in the next election will be the Reform Party – which the polls say will easily win against Labour. It’s some time until a general election – will Labour find a way to win by then? Ditto for Sinn Féin, who are at 24% in the polls, with Fine Gael and Fianna Fail well behind. Must Sinn Féin learn how to work in a coalition with others, or forget ever being in government?
Oh, and do stay to the end of the podcast. I read aloud a wee poem I rather like. I didn’t write it, but it’s still good…
