As you know, the EU. (then the EEC) was set up as a common market for Europe, so th horrors of two World Wars would never be repeated. It seemed to work,too – until recently. Now the EU is aiming to spend €800 billion between now and 2030 on armaments. Is the drive to shed blood on a big scale built into us as human beings, or can we decide to turn away from the obscenity of young men killing and dying?
The hugely successful series ‘Derry Girls’ (full disclosure – I wasn’t that gone on it) is to be succeeded by one called ‘Jig’, which is about Irish dancing. It’s hard to tell which is more terrifying, a Russian missile or a Derry Feis mother who feels injustice has been done to her wee girl…
