OK, here’s Edwin Poots two days ago, in a debate about the Disappeared in Stormont:
“Someone is lying through their teeth. There is no desire in republicanism to tell the truth about these issues. If they cannot tell the truth about these issues, about their murky past on these issues, then how can we expect them to tell the truth on any other issues?”
Edwin, being a Christian who believes the world was created 6,000 years ago, is clearly devoted to revealing the truth about the Disappeared. I wonder will he watch tonight’s Panorama? In it, apparently, some members of a unit of the British army spill some beans. You remember the British army? They were brought in in 1969 after the famous Battle of the Bogside, in order to protect nationalists from attack by the RUC and B Specials.
What beans, Virginia? Well, it seems this unit’s job was to go around and kill well-known members of the IRA. Sometimes these IRA men were armed; sometimes they weren’t. Sometimes they weren’t even IRA men. But they got shot anyway. How often did this happen? “Occasionally”.
How important is this – that the guardians of society in these cases were those who killed members of society? Very important. Where did it feature on this morning’s Good Morning Ulster on BBC? Well, it got into the headlines at eight, but it had to wait while a story about a woman being taken to the wrong address in an ambulance and several over stories were covered. It eventually got an airing after about twenty-five minutes. Not that important, you see.
Anyway, I do hope Edwin can take time off to watch the programme tonight. And I look forward to him declaring afterwards “There is no desire in unionism to tell the truth about these issues. If they cannot tell the truth about these issues, about their murky past on these issues, then how can we expect them to tell the truth on any other issues?”.
And so, unionism not taking the splinter out of their own eye is an excuse for what?

Woh steady on there Jude. You seem to be a bit over enthusiastic about an upcoming documentary considering you showed quite a lack of it during the recent batch. There was any amount of bean spilling going on there, of which you were quite dismissive. Edwin takes his religious beliefs from a book in much the same way as your assertions that Anne Callawalder’s book came out of a burning bush. That’s not to say it didn’t but we can make up our own minds without near daily prompting from you. I suspect Edwin will take his cue from you and go to bed early and then believe it was just a bad dream. Just on another point The Murder Triangle was not a description which excluded republican murders which to my memory were just as prolific.
One has to wonder the response had it been Shin Fein members admitting to “shooting civilians “(that‘s code for Murder by the British forces), especially on the Nolan Show where he did everything possible to cover the debate in the row over the Attorney General comments. What a joke the BBC NI
