It’s pretty unnerving, some of the stuff that the killings in Paris has brought to the surface. Check out some of the Fox News items, for example, and you’ll find pundits who blame the Paris attack on Europe’s lax immigration system and excessively generous welfare systems. Nearer home – in fact at home – my old friend and gambling partner Eoghan Harris in today’s Sindo (check it yourselves in case I’m being too harsh on him) appears to be saying something pretty startling. You know the way that most people have been at pains to point out that the two men who killed twelve people in Paris are not representative of Muslims, that in fact they are disowned by faithful adherents to Islam? Well, Eoghan apparently (I keep using that word because I can’t believe he’s said it) is saying that’s PC nonsense. In fact he compares the Muslim community in France (and worldwide) to nationalists in the north during the Troubles. According to Eoghan, nationalists disowned violent republicanism as embodied in the IRA but really they had a sneaking regard for it. So too, he seems to say, these Muslims are really closet supporters of the butchery of Paris and other places.
Eoghan can say that. But if you suggest that the Paris killings were enacted to a background of violence from the West, a violence which has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives over the last ten years or so, you’re assumed to be saying “I approve of the Paris killings”. Well listen carefully. Some of us are capable of thinking about two things, not just one. Some of us are capable of being concerned for bread-and-butter issues AND about national and international questions. Just as some of us are capable of feeling horror and sympathy for those whose lives were brutally taken in Paris AND feeling horror and sympathy over the countless deaths inflicted by the West or its proxies on innocent people in Iraq, in Pakistan, in Gaza.
The killings at the Charlie Hebdo offices didn’t just unleash international indignation at what seems an attack on press freedom everywhere. It unleashed the bigotry and one-eye brutality that is stronger than any of us would care to believe.

Controversial as this comment may seem, I have hesitated to talk about the killings in Paris because I can’t help but feel that the world media is selling us a whopper. Yes its terrible that 12 people are dead, but I still feel that a hate crime in the name of religion is being set up. I refer to what happened in the street outside, How convenient camera’s were perfectly positioned on a rooftop overlooking the scene of a crime “nobody” knew would happen.
Think about this, the gunmen exit the building and there is enough time for someone to take a phone from their pocket, unlock it, get the camera up, switch to video and record the moment with precision. A masked gunman shoots a police officer? and then these same gunmen stroll to a car on an empty street thats normally bumper to bumper after shooting a police officer in the head. But on careful examination it looks like he missed despite being 6 inches away and hit the path. Lets also take into account the shot came from one of the worlds most powerful hand held weapons and didn’t even make the police officers body jerk and there was no blood, where in reality the unfortunate police officers head should have exploded.
Then to confound all this police recover the stolen car with an id card in it, I ask you what killer brings his id card to a massacre scene? BUT where’s the questions from the media about this… there are none cos you couldn’t make it up.
I’m no conspiracy theorist but it all looks terribly staged to me, The question I have is why would someone want to do this. Is someone trying to create animosity between Christians Jews and Muslims and who does this serve ? I leave it to all you fine journalists to answer.

Maybe these two clowns were genuine jihadis in their own minds. But perhaps maybe they were recruited into a group that they mistakenly thought were on the same wavelength as them but were in fact a black op group whose real plan was/is to undermine and destroy Moslems and their culture?
They tooled these two up. Egged them on, trained them etc. Rigged them out in all the gear it would seem to ensure they were not recognised, judging by the masks they wore, and sent them off to do their bit for Mohammed and promising they would help them in their escape etc?
So they kill the journalists, and even though it seems their escape plan has gone wrong, they still manage to get away. And then imagine after all their hardwork they tune into the news and their names are declared as the main suspects due to an ID card left at the scene. Perhaps maybe It is then that they realise their helpers/mates had stitched them up like a kipper? I would assume panic would set in and they would know the writing is on the wall for them as who could they turn to and explain their dilemma? Who would believe them?
Who would do such a thing I hear you ask? Who would have the brass neck to actively undermine and dictate how a country conducts itself? Well perhaps someone who doesn’t bat an eyelid at ordering the murder of women,kids and journalists if they happen to get in the road of his racist policies? Perhaps someone who recently stated that France would regret it for recognising Palestine as a state? Bibi anyone?

1) I don’t see how we could know the ultimate backer of such a group.When it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck how can we know it is not a duck?
2) If they shot the journalists why pretend to shoot the police officer.?
3) Are you saying the grieving relatives at the funeral for the police officer were pretending he was dead?
4) If they realised they had been duped as you say, why did they not expose the whole thing when they spoke to the media. Deathbed statement, quite effective.
5) Were the other attackers part of the sham too? Were they not connected to IS?

I didn’t dispute people were killed although I won’t take you word for it. But I will ask, did you actually hear these clowns speaking to the media at all? And can you prove it? And how do you know they didn’t try to contact the media?
Anyway to sum it all up, according to you, the narrative that the chosen media has reported on this farce is all fact? We must therefore dismiss the threat bibi issued to France,when it showed its inclination to support the Palestinian state as irrelevant? We must believe that these clowns just somehow picked the ideal moment to strike knowing there would be a real possibility that all the ground the Palestinian people were gaining internationally, could be scuppered? I think I have made it my case pretty clear how state agencies can manipulate others to do acts that they wouldn’t like to be attributed to. Agent provocateur if you like?
An example I used was the case of Roseanne mallon. And as luck would have it her case is in the news and the implication is that mi5 had a wee secret forensic unit that was allowed to view weapons and materials before the standard forensic officials seen it. Suspicious wouldn’t you say? Credit to the civilian forensic officer for trying to avoid making outright the claim that someone had tampered with the firing pin of a rifle. Rather they suggested it may be part of a cleaning process? With sandpaper? Hilarious if it wasn’t so serious.

Once upon a time a co Tyrone pensioner called Roseanne mallon was shot by ‘loyalist’ militia through a living room window. Her only crime it seemed was that her sons were republicans.
Irish republicans claimed that the British state was behind the attack. The British state scoffed the allegation and mocked that the IRA were whinging because they couldn’t truly protect their own people. Sadly others including clergy and nationalists politicians remained silent on the ‘conspiracy’ theory that the British state was participating in a systematic campaign to undermine the IRA within their own community. To cloud people’s thinking at the time the gallant terrorists of the RUC arrested useful idiot billy Wright and his sidekick Fulton allegedly making their way out of the area of the crime. Republicans didn’t buy it that this clown was somehow an elusive skilled bogeyman that even the British couldnt nail down. In fact the suspicion was that Wright agreed to claim responsibility for attacks the British actually did themselves.
Anyway fast forward a few years and thanks to the perseverance of family members it turned out the British were actually watching the house that Mrs mallon was murdered in. And actually sat and watched her being killed. Also if I recall the weapon that was used to kill her was recently revealed to have been found shortly after the attack in nearby fields from the house. The brave terror police just never disclosed it at the time bless them.
This tale is the tip of an big iceberg of state carrying out terrorists attacks in ireland. Just like Dublin/Monaghan,mcgurks bar and even the omagh bomb, we are dismissed as conspiracy theorists when we question the narrative issued by the state. Heck some would argue billy Wright had to go because he wouldn’t toe the line of his masters. To dismiss the very notion that state agencies would not entertain and carry out actions like killing its own citizens, in an effort to further whatever agenda it holds, isn’t as fanciful as you like to utter. Just take a look at the Mrs mallon case and other similar incidents in the north.

I’ve read various pieces by Mr Harris over the years , just as i expect a particular style or vision from all the different commentators. In this one he might have a point. I do believe that both “sides” in Northern Ireland ..{that is , if you really think there were only two” sides” here , anyway } very obviously had a sneaking regard for some of the combatants from their particular backgrounds . If that wasn’t the case why would you find the likes of Rev Willie McCrea shaking hands with known terrorists like Billy Wright at well -attended rallies and funerals . The same for republican rallies and funerals, of course. There can be a blind respect for those whom you think are on your side . There very obviously was…Sometimes the minor details of the many murders are quickly brushed aside . I think anyone who has real knowledge of Ireland and saw it all through the years , knows that. I have seen people like Paisley supporting violent men , for example…and it’s no secret that both “sides” were equally violent in their quest to force their own political agendas. You would need to be very naive to believe that one side were the good guys and the other the bad guys. it’s always more complex.

Your essay puts me in mind of thoughts I have had both recently and indeed immediately after 9/11. In the aftermath of the Paris shootings the President of the Catholic League here in the US (Bill Donohue) states ‘Muslims are right to be angry over Charlie Hebdo cartoons’. An argument I have no quarrel with though neither he nor I would justify murder as a response. What strikes me as hypocritical is the inability of the Bill Donohue’s (here in the US anyway) to extend this rational to the policies of our government that led to the events of 9/11. Evidently having two thoughts at once is as rare as hen’s teeth these days, glad to see some are still capable. Thank you Jude.
