On the 18th November 1916 the Battle of the Somme was discontinued but the appalling slaughter on the “Western Front” continued for another two years, and German civilians were deliberately starved to death for many more months until their leaders pleaded guilty to false charges made by the British and French Governments. When the fallen soldiers of the British and French Empires were sorted they had white tombstones signifying the purity of those Empire’s motives and conduct, and the German Empire’s soldiers had black tombstones signifying the damnable motives of their government and damnation of its warriors.
A great number of the tombstones of the French Empire’s soldiers are embossed with the Islamic Crescent. Much thanks France gave to its Moslem soldiers or their co-religionists this past 100 years!
Many of the German graves are embossed with the Star of David. And the graves of the British Empire’s soldiers cover men of many nations and religions. There are many Irishmen among them. And we are assured by ProfessorLord Bew that Winston Churchill loved Ireland. So we may safely assume that gratitude for the sacrifice of Ireland’s sons was a dominant factor in British statecraft.
Lucky, lucky, Ireland! How fortunate, compared with India, many of whose sons died as volunteer soldiers, and conscripted labourers in a European quarrel whose outcome could not concern them. For Churchill expressed a murderous hatred of India’s Hindu majority. In February 1945 Churchill dined with his Secretary, John Colville, and Air Chief Marshal Sir Arthur Harris and remarked that “the Hindus were a foul race….and he wished that Bert Harris could send some of his surplus bombers to destroy them.” In 1942-1943 Churchill caused a famine killing millions In Bengal, including Moslems whom he affected to favour.(Mihir Bose “HISTORY TODAY December 2016.)
