How do they get away with it? Is it that they are extremely cunning or that people are extremely dumb?
For example, how do you get a 66% pay rise? One way is to be Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. Better known as Queen Elizabeth II, or if you’re on really intimate terms, The Queen. Lucky little girl she is too: she’s going to get – these being times of austerity and all – £369 million over ten years, so her house can be given a bit of a make-over. That’s Buckingham Palace we’re talking about. Strictly speaking it’s not her house – the British people own it. They let her have it rent-free. Same with Windsor Castle. On the other hand, her other two houses – Balmoral Castle in Scotland and Sandringham House in Norfolk – are her personal property. But it’s Buck House that’s going to get the make-over. Ms E A M Saxe Coburg-Gotha is one of the richest women in the world, sitting on something over £400 million. So clearly she’ll need to have the public pay for her living in a decent gaff. One Royal Source has opined “On completion of the work, we’ll have a palace fit for purpose until 2067”. Right.
The other tester of public gullibility is Donald J Trump. He’s out for the little man, right? Oh, OK, and woman too, providing she remains cheerful in the face of sudden male overtures. Donald is reckoned to be worth over £7 billion. I mean all those towers and yachts and totty. But oddly enough, Donald is the champion of the little guy. To show how much he is determined to “drain the swamp” of Washington, he has appointed lots of insider guys to his Cabinet, and found jobs for quite a number of his (hard-up) family. Those who have lost their jobs, those who are minority groups, those who are women – they’ve voted Donald into place. Not on his political experience, not because he’s poor and can identify: because he is vastly wealthy and ostentatiously set on given the rich the green light for becoming richer. Ask anybody who voted for him.
But ask the average American or the average Brit if they think that Trump or E A M Saxe Coburg-Gotha aren’t deserving of all that money and what will they say? “Of course – s/he’s the Queen/President!”
When the revolution finally does come, it’s going to have an awful lot of work to do.

The royals are also meant to own circa £7billiion in property and land.
They also refused to open Buckingham up to visitors 12 months a year to increase revenue.
The Donald and Farage were pictured the other day together.
2 old white multi millionaires standing in front of of a gold plated door.
Anti-establishment and anti-elitist they say.
Good joke I say.
My wife and I are scarcely in poverty but like many other parents we have spent a great deal on the education of our children through the State system. For twenty years or so it was our priority and little was spent on our home. The children thankfully are all now in employment and in recent years we have renovated the house, entirely from our own savings, set aside from taxed income. There are millions like us and they too would be ashamed to accept any State handout in a country where there is evidence of child poverty running at 25%. Shame obviously does not occur in the true blue, German blood line
A friend of mine circulated a petition asking that Farage NOT be given a Peerage. I replied
with a list from WIDGERY tp ARCHER, including BROOKBOROUGH, BIRKENHEAD, BEAVERBROOK, suggesting that Farage might raise the tone of their LORDSHIPS’ HOUSE,
even though he has all the gravitas of a used condom salesman.
It is not just the Shape-Shifty Queeny called Lizardbeth, Esteemed Blogmeister, who, oops, what continues to thrive.
So also do the Drama Queens of the Thespian Art.
They were upstaging the audience on Broadway last night, thus taking their cue from their Sisters of the Blister in the Abbey Theatre / Amharclann Náisiúnta na hEireann. It will be recalled that these latter Missies went about it, vice versa, by hissing from the pits earlier this year.
It might be said, they are all, erm, Synging from the same her-sheet. The Abbey, of course, has history in this kind of hysteria, starting with J. M. Synge and his Playboy of the Wesern World in 1907. If that was the first act, then W.B. Yeats put on a second act at the first performance of The Plough and the Stars in 1926.
Things were looking up, one might say: from the earth to the sky. It was only a matter of time travel before this playacting transferred to New York where the Way has truly made way for the Broad, bigly.
Just as the Rainbow Revolution in Dublin Castle last year made the Rest of the World think pink, as is modestly claimed by the Radisson Radicals in the Free Southern Stateen, then surely must The Old Lady now say Yes, if not Yeats, to a self-effacing bow.
GO GLOBAL, GOEBELS GALS !
John Millington put in the early shift
The outrage then WBY went on to lift
Every gabby cabbie
Speaks of the Abbey
Oh, oh, oh, what a Continental Drift !
When you figure out what a Constitutional Monarchy is, perhaps you will understand.
Beyond that, if you think that a ‘revolution’ (of any kind) will solve anything, you fail to understand what human nature ‘gets away with’.
Lord Acton and all that…
What are you talking about.jude? Don’t they pay for their own ……….. er er.
“. Those who have lost their jobs, those who are minority groups, those who are women – they’ve voted Donald into place”
I was listening to Jerry Springer (yes the presenter of that crazy TV show) explain WHY minorities, why the poor, why women, etc voted for Trump. According to Jerry, the reason why they voted Trump is because Americans are very impressed with wealth. They want to be rich. They want to have the big house, the flashy car, the holiday home, the big lawn, etc so when they see billionaire Trump they see success. They were captured by Trumps isolationism, the idea of Americans coming first again, the idea of the “Good Old Days” when “America was Great”. The voters were captured by Nostalgia. They wanted the “American Dream” to return. And what is the American Dream all about? Well, getting rich…..
I agree with Jerry Springer. But the fact that Hillary Clinton was the democratic candidate was another major factor why Trump won. If Bernie Sanders was the candidate (Bernie, BTW, has not ruled out running again for President in 2020) then Trump would not have stood a chance. Even me, who supports some of Trumps policies, can see he would’ve been slaughtered by Bernie Sanders. Indeed Sanders’ millions of supporters refused to back Hillary and many even said they would rather vote Trump in protest…..
” Ms E A M Saxe Coburg-Gotha is one of the richest women in the world, sitting on something over £400 million”
The fact that Royal Families, of any kind, exist today is ridiculous. I personally regard them all as toxic snobs. Its pathetic to see any people speak of how they “love” a Royal Family. Of course most people don’t really love a Royal Family, they think by saying so makes them more patriotic. Though if they really DO love a Royal Family then I think there must be something wrong with their heads somewhere.
In regard to the British Royal Family, its clear that maybe a majority of Brits really do love and admire their Monarchy, again they associate the Monarchy with Patriotism. They even sing for God to save the Queen. Yes, for the Almighty to save a 90 year old billionaire…..not starving children, not the sick or the elderly…..but a billionaire who lives in multiple Palaces and Castles……
The British public are so brainwashed that I don’t see too much of a fuss being made about this £369 million being given to a billionaire in times of austerity. The NHS may be in turmoil, benefits being cut, etc but who cares? as long as Queen Lizzie has a Palace fit for a Queen. Its not surprising that they are so brainwashed though, many of Westminsters elite are actually related to the Royal Family, including the likes of David Cameron. Most of those that attend colleges like Eton and Oxford are the children of people who are of the same mind as the Royal Family and staunch supporters of them. Most of these students leave to go into jobs of power, wealth and influence in all sorts of fields, such as Finance, the Media, etc. Many an OBE, MBE and Knighthood has been given to such people….
We can only imagine how many hospitals, schools, etc £369 million could build but hey Liz needs her Palace. Money well spent…..
