Pic 1: Páistí ar an Trá
“Playing on a strand in carefree abandon, is a joy for all children. This was taken at Machaire Rabhartaigh recently. Granny is keeping a watchful eye. I asked her permission, in these paranoid times, to include the chn. in the landscape. Not too sure about the law in the Republic but it is perfectly legal to photograph anything in a public place here. Discretion, I think, is important.”
Pic 2: Stranger on the Shore
“Same location and actually is the grandfather of the children in the other image. However, I thought that the title was not inappropriate, given the vaguely menacing tone of the semi-silhouette figure.”
Pic 3: Gone
“Ireland and the Scottish islands present many scenes like this. What is the story? Where did they go and Why? Answers are usually readily found but identities may take longer.”

Pic 6: “ As the Supermoon was the must see sight this week I thought I’d get myself a photo. This photo was taken as it was rising at the back of the Belfast hills at around 17:40 hrs.”
Pic 7: My wife put the heating on at full pelt a few days ago and this Small Tortoiseshell butterfly thought Spring had arrive and came out of hibernation from behind a unit in our kitchen. Order was soon restored by catching it and placing it in a small box in my shed where it went back into hibernation. Roll on Spring.
Pic 8: “I took this photo at sunrise of the Konik (Polish) ponies at Portmore Lough. ”
Pics 9 and 10: “One of Ireland’s rarest birds, Marsh Harrier. I’ve spent a lot of time over the last two weeks watching this bird hunt over the reeds at Portmore Lough and it’s well worth the drive up to the lough just to see it.”
Pic 11: “This photo was taken right at the moment of sunrise and the colours, sounds and sights were just stunning and truly worth getting on the Lough so early on a very cold morning.”
