Pic 1 : Glen Etive Red Deer
“As the temperatures drop, the deer come lower on the slopes to feed and are more accessible for photography. That said, they are very alert wild animals who know that humans are predators and take swift precautions.”
Pic 2: Glencoe
“My wife was born in Glencoe and we make frequent visits. This loch is beside the road as you travel down the glen. The primary border is in place because I intend to use it as a screen for an AV show which I do annually at this time for the Stirling National Trust.”
Pic 3: Blackrock Cottage
“Situated off the road to the Corries Ski Resort, it is a favourite with photographers because of the hills in the background. It is now the HQ of the Scottish Ladies Climbing Club.”
Pic 4: Buachaille Etive Mor
“At just over 1000m , this qualifies as a Munro and is climbed the year round in all weathers. It dominates Glen Etive and nearby there is a buachaille beag. Climbers refer to the the larger one as the ‘buachaille’ ”

Pic 5: “Selmun Palace aka Samuel’s Hideaway: taken from the Sunny South East.”
Pic 6: “Sign: This way, please. Nobel Laureates for Literature who prefer to back into the limelight, have priority.”
Pic 7: “Facade of Selmun Palace. Alas, now only a facade. It was built in the 18th C for a charitable order called the Monte di Redenzione degli Schiavi (Mountain of the Redemption of the Slaves). Alas, now a slave to market forces, it operates as an Upmarket Airbnb, or did, till it ran out of a few bob. Perhaps Bob can restore it to its former glory?”
Pic 8: “St. Paul’s Bay, with the island of St. Paul on the extreme right. For those with great hindsight aka 20/20 vision, Selmun Palace is the dotcom in the middle of the ridge. Now operating under a cloud, indeed, an accumulation of clouds.”
