“BASS ROCK GANNET COLONY

Gannets are large, white seabirds with yellowish heads , black tipped wings and long beaks which make them expert at catching fish. They can dive from 30m at 100kmh and pursue their prey underwater. The forward positioning of their eyes greatly enhances their vision and allows them to judge distance with precise accuracy.

These pictures were taken on the Bass Rock, a very visible landmark   off the east coast of Scotland. At the peak of the breeding season, there may be 150 000 very noisy and smelly birds there. I went there about five years ago. It took several attempts to get  there on different occasions because    it can be a fairly precarious landing and numbers visiting are strictly controlled as this is a site of special, scientific interest. If my memory serves me correctly, there is a colony of gannets on Tory Island too.

I made a little AV sequence of the day which can be viewed at https://youtu.be/p-ypOHWySes ”

Didn’t want to break one’s vow of silence, Esteemed Blogmeister, till one had checked one’s sources.

This now being dusted if not done, one can now refer to Pic 4 which is still on its ear the morning after:

    -Wrist Bands only today.

Was the explanation given for the Closed Door policy yesterday on the Dubliner bar in Spinola for the Paddy Stinks and Mickey Mucks of Malta. and other cawbogues from Bohola.

What then, is a Wrist Band? Of what do they consist? What are their enviable component parts?

Turns out after an exhaustive process of check, counter check and bounced check, that a Wrist Band is actually a four-piece combo which specialises in the latest funky fad music (gulp) Algorithm and Blues.

    Beir bua !
