PUBLISHED IN LONDON, one of its first Editors was Michael McInerney, veteran of the Republican Garrison in Dublin’s Four Courts. Other Editors included Flann Campbell son of the poet patriot Joseph Campbell but Desmond Greaves, was its devoted Editor from 1948 until his death in September 1988 and the Dynamo at the heart of the Connolly Association – author of the Life and Times of James Connolly, a brilliant biography of Liam Mellows and other works and the inspiration of the Civil Rights Movement in the North of Ireland. Many fine writers including Mary Campbell, Gerry Curran,Donall MacAmhlaigh and others whom I had the privilege to know are imithe ar Sli na Firinne now but the journal continues on line and has four quarterly hard. copy printings 78 years since its first appearance and still faithful to its principles.

Desmond Greaves was one of the shrewdest Irish political analysts of the last century. Often pilloried unjustly by the ‘ultra left.’
