A lot of myths, distortions and downright lies surround the Orange Order , most of them generated by the Order and its apologists.
The Orange Battle-cry: ‘We’ll fight to the last in the honest old cause, And guard our religion, our freedom and laws. We’ll fight for our country, our king and his crown, and make all the traitors and croppies lie down’…
The Orange Order must be challenged to acknowledge its terrorist origins. It must be further challenged to concede that what it continues to celebrate and glorify in its lodges, museums and parades are acts of British colonial terrorism against the native Irish population.
The Orange Order was founded in 1795 by armed sectarian terrorists Dan Winter and James Sloan et al of the Peep O’day Boys gang. Throughout its history, gun-toting and sword-wielding Orange Order members were responsible for the murder of hundreds of native Irish citizens. Just two examples: eight native Irish citizens were murdered at its first parade on 12th July 1797 in Cork, and eighty Irish civilians were murdered and many of their homes burnt on 12th July 1849 at Dollys Brae outside Castlewellan.
‘…Report of the British Royal Commissions of Enquiry into the disturbances at Belfast in 1857, in 1864, and 1886, where the same tale of barbarous intolerance is told by many witnesses, chiefly Protestant. From such official reports and from dozens of eminent non-Catholic writers the Orange Society is condemned as no existing organisation we know of has been condemned.’
After the Orange Order was first banned due to its hate-stoked lethal parades, it started concealing its terrorist activities. For instance, we know now of a letter by the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland issued to all lodges in November 1910 that it was involveed in forming the original UVF terrorist gang announced in 1913. We further now know Orange Order halls were eventually proven to have been used to store 1913 UVF terrorist weapons.
Today, the names of hundreds of Orange Order members can be found amongst the ranks of the leadership and volunteers of the re-organised UVF terrorist gang of the 1960s: UVF and UDA leaders such as Gusty Spence, David Ervine, Brian Robinson, John Bingham, George Seawright, Davy Payne, Richard Jameson, Billy McCaughey, Robert McConnell, Ernie Elliott, and many many other terrorists such as the infamous UVF Shankill Butchers Robert Bates and Eddie McIlwaine. After his release from prison, McIlwaine actually led parades into Irish Nationalist districts from where his gang had snatched then butchered many innocent civilians.
The Orange Order must be made to further concede that, under the protection of the British colonial RUC police force, its so-called religious and cultural Orange Halls were used to store terrorist equipment and organise sectarian attacks. In addition, the Orange Order cannot be allowed to deny that its so-called “religious halls and parades” were used to honour and glorify known dead terrorists (see images above).
The Orange Order seeks to portray itself as a benign Protestant faith and cultural fraternity, but that is a lie. In truth, at its core it is a highly political, secret oath-based British colonial organisation which has infiltrated the highest positions in Government. In truth, it uses the guise of supposed religious processions and band parading as tools to garner and manifest its archaic colonialist ideology of supremacist hatred of the native Irish population.
Finally, no truthful person can deny that the Orange Order was formed by terrorists, perpetrated terrorism and continues to glorify acts of terrorism.

And now we have unionists calling for recognition of Orange culture from nationalists. I have said previously that, the Orange order should have been outlawed as part of any political settlement. Great post Ruaidri.
I am sure that the formalisation of the Orange Order as a kind of Masonic Order was financed by the British Government when William Pitt was Prime Minister in response to the United Irishmen.
Have to agree with moser, the Orange Order should have been banned in mid1800s. Their marches were banned during the 2nd WW bcos they wudve caused pandemonium over strapping young men tripping around the place in bowler hats and sashes while other young men ( protestant and Catholic ) were fighting and dieing in Europe and the Far East. And after these same scoundrels kept going on as if they were the ones who beat nazism and whatever. Total waste of space.
The above article should be printed and permanently pinned to the front door of every Orange hall in the country, and their chaplains should be charged with hate crimes!
Well said Sherdy. Time to call a spade a spade and a racist a racist.
will they be acceptable in a united ireland.
Hopefully not.
I’m in Scotland, brought up a Protestant and I loath the Orange Order with every cell of my body.
One thing people in Ireland should be made aware of is how, under the leadership of Ruth Davidson, the previously taboo Orange Order is being made politically acceptable by this wee clown.
She is bringing the old hatreds of Ireland to Scottish politics in defense of the Union and it is only going to end badly.
They have always been a device for maintaining empire and Scotland is the last stray hair combed over the bald head. Expect them to cling on for dear life, like cornered rats
Would the klu Klux Klan be accepted in a new Ireland ?
the mirror has long written about the nefarious Orange order – its pseudo-military organisation, its piggy-backing on to unionist parties in NI, the conflict of interest it creates its murder of catholics and burning them out of their homes
Just one example from after Bombay Street
““One of the most harrowing sights I remember was up in St Aiden’s. I went up there to find out where we could get provisions. There was an old man and an old woman in the school and they were in shock. They couldn’t speak. In their lifetime it was the fifth time they had been burned out of their home by loyalists. If there had been a photographer to take a picture of yon grey-haired old woman … She had been burned out as a child; she had been burned out along with her own children; and she was now burned out again after her children had their children.
This was her whole life”

feel free to read other posts on the topic in the blog
They make my stomach sick this mans post sums up my feelings.

I listen to the scum every year on the Lisburn road I see the filth that the filth leave behind them and think dear god these were paisleys voters and now Arlene’s. I know its not fashionable but i really don’t want to share this Island with them i know i have to but i don’t think they deserve to be with us. They forget that when they beat their war drums to incite themselves that the war drum far from intimidating me it fills me with a primeval need to go into battle with them. There is nothing about the twelfth of July that can be turned into a modern day festival just look at the eleventh night and the next day the hatred is palpable but i suppose we have to pretend. So they will have to join the American and British war machine’s along with the likes of Hamas for instance in my little mental locker lol.
I cant imagine wat its like over there on the 12 over hete in scotland coatbridge the locked the place down for the vermin coudnt go to the shops the main street nowhere till they left ourlaw the scum
Blah blah blah blah blah
One sided if you want to get your pointerest across fine. Perhaps you should tell what actually happend at Dolly Brae and the Diamond
Perhaps you would be so kind Halfandhalf??????
So to sum up, the Orange Order, which according to its own figures has only 34,000 members, will be banned in any future United Ireland, with the tricolour presumably becoming a du-colour.
Willie D. Can you provide one positive contribution the Orange order would bring to a new Ireland ? I am all for religious tolerance. I don’t hear to many Protestants in the liberated part of Ireland complaining about their civil rights being trampled on. Unfortunately, if you’re a unionist, then you have to live with your history. It’s a cross I wouldn’t want to carry. You mentioned the tri colour: what are the chances of unionists coming up with a flag that would symbolise peace and reconciliation with their nationalist neighbours ?
What a complete and utter load of shite, written by a bitter and twisted republican and sucked up by halfwits

Your powers of debate and persuasion are impressive but I would stick to gathering wooden pallets if I were you.
@Nessie nez What an intelligent, well-thought out comment… . . . NOT
Compare and contrast with the list of sources supporting the facts as presented in

Two years ago i had two meet someone in a pub/restaurant outside Banbridge to hand over some papers it was sort of half way for both of us. Anyway on the way back home i got onto Stocksmans lane planning to over Balmoral Avenue and turn down the Malone road and home, I knew the parade would be gone and not on its way back yet. When i got onto Balmoral Avenue a girl/woman was lying on her back with her legs wide open and her knickers down round her ankles. Lying up against a wall were two gentlemen who if your daughter took them home you would try to have her committed until she wised up. One gentleman was kind of wrapped in a union jack with his trousers nearly hanging of the other one had his top off and his face painted red white and blue both held bottles. I saw three cops over the road so i stopped the car and went over to see about the young lady the first much older policeman, had his sleeves well rolled up to display his wonderful tattoos he said what do you want. I said what are you doing about that woman she cant be left there he replied its taken care of now move on very pleasant not. A nicer policewoman came after me and said i covered her up and were waiting our turn for an ambulance and we will stay here until she is in it. I said what about them she laughed and said well i can tell you they will not be getting into the ambulance, thanks for your concern have a nice day and of i went feeling a bit better about the woman/girl. Now one thing i noticed at each end of Balmoral Avenue was a mountain and i mean mountain of empty liquor bottles and it struck me that there was not as many cans as i thought there would be, lots of drink consumed. But hey ho its a religious order maybe it was all turned into wine. Just my opinion but what a bunch of low lifes.
Lets hear your version of events then Nessie Nez???
If you’re going to throw mud lets talk about the gaa some might say it’s a sporting ascotiation and politics should not be brought into it, but travelling back and forth to the UK mainland it surprises me how many people are brought up believing this to be a neutral organisation when in fact it has at least 12 cups named after I.r.a terrorists and 8 cups also named after them and yet you have dug this bogus information up from your warped little mind, you are totally wrong on Dan winter the French have seemed to be able to influence the slack minded Irish Catholics into clearing the land of any religion formed after the reformation as they were heretics after all and so a murder campaign had begun, but when they arrived at Dan winters cottage they did not find a simple farmer but a man willing to defend his life land family and religious beliefs
What a load of sectarian anti protestant load of shit this article is.
The orange order was formed to protect people after countless attacks by catholic militia to drive innocent protestants from their homes.
As far as being a terrorist organisation. What a load of nonsense.
I am not a member of the orange order but when i read a purely sectarian piece aimed at stirring hatred between people i have to say something.
Of course this nonsense was written by a person without bias, i think not.
Anti hate-filled orange order, not anti protestant.Get it right ffs.
Where were you,Burger, when you travelled to the British mainland….maybe The Isle of Wight….. if you know where that is? It certainly wasn’t Ireland as all 32 counties make up the mainland. I noticed that our Unionist friends on this blog prefer to insult rather than present a reasoned argument… I know history is not their strong point but an attempt would be appreciated…..well, instead I’ll give you a glimpse into the future…. it’s a re-united Ireland……it’s just around the corner… you will be part of it….. unless you emigrate or are repatriated…….but I can’t see many wanting you and your poisonous of bigotry
“Of” just slipped in there.
Maybe he should write a piece about the Spanish Inquisition who tortured and murdered thousands of natives in South America that predates the orange order maybe the good soldiers of the pope could be classed as terrorists and don’t even mention the crusades.
